Created by the German artists Katja Stuke and Oliver Siebe in 2003, Böhm Kobayashi explores several photographic concepts and techniques, such as political landscape, installation, video and photography books. The Project Japanese lesson started with the artists trip through Japan in 2005. They decided to capture their impressions on the Japanese street life. The project aims to represent the process of learning about Japanese culture, but unconventional ways that do not necessarily involve the knowledge of Japanese language.
