In her work, Diana Scherer (DE, 1971) explores the relationship between man versus his natural environment. As a starting point she takes the ambiguous tendency of man to cherish nature, but also to manipulate it in a reckless way. Vegetable, living material forms the basis of her investigation. Scherer works with biological processes and tries to intervene in a sometimes intuitive and sometimes scientific manner to set the course in her own way. In her series Interwoven Scherer explores her fascination on the dynamics of underground plant parts. She makes the hidden root systems with its subterranean processes visible, and turns them into an artificial textile.
