In 2007 she attended the Fondazione Ratti CSAV (Advanced Course in Visual Arts) in Como and took up a residency offered by the Dena Foundation at the Centre des Recollets in Paris. Martina della Valle’s research starts from the basis of the photographic technique, from the study of the physical and mental traces left by the light, through time and space. It is developed often with different languages and forms, having the shape of photos, video, and also site-specific installations. The artists is very interested in themes such as beauty of imperfect things, impermanent and incomplete realities, the signs of time passing, the appropriation of someone else’s memory and the perceptions mediate through a personal gaze. Sometimes a fortuitous founding of lost objects can generate a reflection on contemporary narration, on the dust of time that enables to perceive realities with a different focus.
