For this year's edition of Unseen, we are pleased to announce our official online partner Artsy – the resource for learning about and collecting art from over 40 of the world’s most influential art fairs.
Collectors and art enthusiasts can explore Unseen online, inquire on works for sale, and view special features on Artsy.net and the Artsy app for iPhone and iPad. Artsy’s online preview of Unseen opens on the 15th of September. Users may view works and contact galleries with inquiries in advance of the opening of the physical fair.
For those visiting the fair in person, the Artsy app for iPhone, which is free to download at iPhone.artsy.net, functions as a personal mobile guide for navigating the fair and researching exhibitors, artists, and artworks. A quick tap displays exhibitor listings and booth locations; contextual information about artists and works, including artist bios, articles, and price details (where available); and lists of other similar works at the fair. Users can follow galleries and artists for future updates.
Artsy is the leading resource for learning about and collecting art from over 3,000 leading galleries, 500 museums and institutions, 40 international art fairs and select auctions. Artsy provides free access via its website (Artsy.net) and iPhone and iPad apps to 300,000 images of art and architecture by 40,000 artists, which includes the world’s largest online database of contemporary art. Artsy's encyclopedic database spans historical works, such as the Rosetta Stone and the Colosseum, to modern and contemporary works by artists such as Pablo Picasso, Willem de Kooning, Richard Serra, Sarah Lucas, and Cindy Sherman. Powered by The Art Genome Project, a classification system that maps the connections between artists and artworks, Artsy fosters new generations of art lovers, museum-goers, patrons, and collectors.
